Bio
Karrin Allyson is a five-time Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist, pianist, and composer with a thirty-year recording career. Born in Great Bend, Kansas and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, she began as a classical pianist before turning to jazz in Minneapolis and Kansas City. Her 1992 debut, I Didn’t Know About You, launched a discography celebrated for its stylistic range — jazz standards, Brazilian songbook, French chanson, and original material — alongside collaborators including James Carter, Kenny Barron, John Patitucci, Mulgrew Miller, Jon Hendricks, and Regina Carter. Her most recent album, A Kiss for Brazil (2024, Origin Records), completes a Brazilian trilogy alongside From Paris to Rio (1999) and Imagina: Songs of Brasil (2008).
